If you are not already reading Maria Killam's blog, Color Me Happy, you should bookmark it right now. Not only is she a great designer and an excellent writer, she is also a great friend and mentor. She changed the way I think about blogs when she wrote about blogging here. She said; "The instant friendships you make blogging are the greatest thing about it." Until then, I thought blogs were more of a one-way street and I never left comments. (even though I read them everyday). She said that it is only polite to comment after reading a post and that "if you comment on [her] blog, [she] will always post a comment on yours. It’s just good manners." Since then I have left comments on every post I have read and it works. Most people leave a comment or email back and I have made some nice friends.

Maria introduced me to another great blogger, Penelope Trunk, a career therapist. It seems that every post relates to me, personally. Start reading and you will see why I love her, unless you have all the answers to life, your career and finding eternal happiness (then you'll hate it). In a recent post: How to be more interesting to other people. She said “We each have spots in our lives where two colors are coming together and we're not sure what will happen. That's the part we should talk about when we talk about ourselves. If you limit the conversation, discussing only what you are certain about, then there's no chance to stand on equal footing with your conversation partner. You stand on equal footing when you both reveal your struggles with what you don't know yet, and the conversation can contribute to the answer."

Lightbulb moment. My blog has been a one-way conversation and that is really not the point of blogging, is it? It made me sad to think that I don't know my readers and they don't know me. Most of you know that I am a full-time-mom who just finished building/remodeling my third home (I only own one at time). I love everything to do with homes; buying, selling, fixing up, tearing down, remodeling, redecorating, or starting from scratch. I have always worked with clients as an interior designer, however, that has never been my full-time occupation. Before becoming a mother, I worked in the corporate world as a marketing and communications consultant. I am an entrepreneur and designer by nature and I love to have a project.
Those are the things I am certain about. However, This is where my two colors are colliding: I planned to have another baby at this point in my life. The first one took eight years to produce so I am not sure if/when another will come our way. In the mean time, I am picking up more design clients and having a blast navigating the design business. I am not sure what this next stage in my life looks like but so far the path is beautiful and intriguing.
Thank you for reading my blog and for sharing your feedback and ideas!

Never give up on having another baby....for DH and I, it has been six long years. The hardest ones were when we had given up hope.
You inspire me every time you post! I love your insights to life and you always make me feel validated! Seriously! Thanks for living by me even if it was for a short while I know your influence will be for a life time.
Maria's blog is one of my favorites. I remember the first time I read one of her posts. I felt like I she was speaking directly to me. Apparently I am not the only one. Maria is one of the most generous bloggers around.
It was nice to get to know a little bit more about you. Trying to have children is a roller coaster of emotions that is completely out of our hands. I hope another little bundle is in your near future.

I always love your blog. I am so glad you are blogging, otherwise we probably would not be in touch nearly as often. I feel like now I am living our CT days again when I read your posts. I'll always remember red toile curtains. I love this last post and Maria's blog. I have been reading all morning!
Great post and great quotes!
Bethany,
Thank you so much for your lovely post! I'm so honoured that you would write such nice things about me! And it's high time I add you to my list of blogging friends as well!
Thanks again!

Good post B, another group of thoughts to chew on tonight. I like your concept, from your friend of converging knowledge. . .I have never thought of it that way directly, but I do agree. I get the closest to people that I share things about myself that I am unsure of. XO
It has been fun reading your blog- I also love that I know you because when I read it I hear your voice saying everything that I read. You are great and down to earth in your decorating advice. Love it!
What a wonderful post! Maria also has taught me to be more generous and now you have too.
I love your site and how thoughtful you are - thanks for the April Food Day reminder. I've passed it on to my community in Canada as well as the US.
Thanks for sharing your heart. It is a good, good heart. I long for your dreams to all come true. And heaven knows, that when they do, you are going to be so appreciative of every blessing (just as you are presently). Emi
You know how much I adore you, so reading your blog makes you seem that much closer. Miss ya.
i think that sharing things you are unsure of is risky. it leaves you a bit vulnerable, but when you open that part of your heart, you are allowing others to see it and they love you even more for it! thanks for sharing with all of us!
I inclination not acquiesce in on it. I regard as precise post. Particularly the designation attracted me to study the whole story.
Good dispatch and this mail helped me alot in my college assignement. Thank you seeking your information.
