Dear April – you are so on my wavelength. Lately, I have been thinking a lot about laundry rooms. It might be because every time I talk to my mom about my house, she asks me, “now where is your laundry room?” and “so your laundry room will be right off of your dining room?”. Then she gets this look.
I prefer a main floor laundry room as well, and that is simply because I like to do small loads through out the week instead of doing all of the laundry on a one particular day. If the laundry room is in the basement, I forget about the clothes and let them sit in the dryer overnight. Which reminds me that there is a load in the dryer right now.
Anyway, your question was about keeping your laundry room tidy and presentable so here are some suggestions.
Ballard Designs has some great drying fixtures. Our laundry room is always cluttered with things drying and so I would love to have one of these. I also really like the detergent pail as well.
country living 2/07I actually saw several of them at the show but no one would sell. They all wanted to keep for them to display items at their booths. They are really handy because they fold down completely flat. Love that. I watched ebay like a hawk until one came along (in the wrong category) and I pick it up for a song. Since then, they have been making reproductions and I see them all of the time. But mine is for real and that makes me happy.
I would love to have five of these crates to collect shoes, socks, rags, balls, and just about anything. They would be great for a laundry room. They are sold by a company in London called Baileys Home and Garden. I am secretly hoping that my sister who lives there will bring them to me when she comes to visit.
Anyone one else have some great suggestions?

love all the laundry room ideas. I definitely need a ironing board that is easy to use and a lot of space to dry stuff. I can't start thinking about it though or I won't be able to sleep.
I love the wheeling crates. I wish I could fit in an antique show. I know I have seen so many crates similar to that. Buy the hardware...voila! I love the idea of putting shoes in it. I imagine it perfect for under a bench right inside an entry way. (We have a no shoes rule)
Yes! Ashely bring me some crates too! It kills me to think that a moving van will be traveling from Connecticut to Utah with no antiques for me. It is almost worth a trip out there. We could hit the Brimfield show in May. These are my wildest dreams of course.
